Tree trail - nature activities

(edit: I'm working on having the site translated into Italian as well. For now please use Google translate!)

When you've got young kids, you sometimes need a few simple, to easy to set up, activities for them when you are out (working/playing) in the woods.

Their imaginations can do a lot of the work, but sometimes they need a little help, and that's fine. Today I got them both playing on a tree trail, a simple to set up activity that can be as easy or difficult as you want it to be.

All you need is since rope/string and a few trees (I used orange paracord that I have in my bag). You create a start point and then set about weaving a route through the trees, over, under and around.

Once you've set it up, you can release the kids, either wearing a blindfold (this could be a scarf or backwards hoody), eyes closed or eyes open; whatever they prefer. The littlest one had her eyes open.

Finally, for added mindfulness (and peace for you!) You can get them to try and do it in silence and really focus their senses on the challenge, hugging the trees and exploring with their touch as they go.

It's a perfect activity for young and older kids (just make it more challenging as they get more confident) and all you need is a long piece of string. It certainly made our morning a touch more enjoyable!

Try it out and share your photos and experiences with us on our Facebook and Instagram accounts
