Welcome to 2022 everyone. After a deliciously relaxed Christmas period where we did lots of snowboarding, eating and chilling we started back at school this week.
Typically, on Monday I came down with a 48 hour tummy bug and we left school after about an hour and missed Tuesday completely. We (Leonardo and Neil) returned on Wednesday for a pleasant day playing and the woods and meadows. Wednesday evening I received a message that two kids had now tested positive for covid (they are doing ok) and that all kids need to quarantine for 10 days and teachers for 5 days....
Sooo, back to managing the Bee Wild woods in preparation for visitors, thankfully being locked in isn't so bad when you've got a woodland to play in and we've been making good progress on lots of areas of the site. The brand new campervan pitch is taking shape, it's cleared but needs a bit more tidying and then we'll be installing electricity and water and building a compost toilet and should be ready for our first visitors this summer!
Likewise, work on the bungalow has started, though it needs a fairly extensive make-over we'll hopefully have that up and running for the winter season ready for those of you who want to hit the mountains and do some snowboarding/skiing (and if it's anything like this winter, enjoy the blue skies and sunshine).
Elsewhere, we've been trying to rejuvenate the chestnut grove by removing dead wood and opening up space. This is hopefully going to help future chestnut harvests while also providing us a sustainable source of firewood!
Lastly, the meadow has been having a trim, cutting back the invasive tree saplings that threaten to take over and ensuring the open space remains (big plans for this area!) along with the beginnings of the stairway to heaven; steps leading from the main garden up to the meadow and completing the circular walk around the site.
Whether you are looking for walking, cycling or city tours or winter holidays we are perfectly placed to provide your accommodation needs. Our pitches, nestled within our beautiful woodland are a stones throw from the ski slopes with delightful roads for cycling and plenty of hiking routes to follow and only 30 minutes from the famed wine country of Barolo. Interested in enquiring, just send us a message to discuss and we can see about getting you booked in with the early bird specials!
